Get to Know the Artist - Marty Snell
Marty Snell is an artist who recently became involved in the gourd field. Her background in oils, watercolors, sculpture, and ceramics contributes to her unique perspective.
She has been experimenting with Holiday themes including Easter, Christmas, and Halloween. She has been producing patriotic gourds, and flower garden motif planter gourds, as well as the traditional bird-house type. Lately she has been experimenting with Native American western motif, and interior light accented table lamps.
One of her favorite projects is the apple gourd. Marty has been making apple gourd wren houses that look like actual apples. Complete with leaves, insects, and happy little worms made from sculpy clay.
Marty entered her first gourd-art competition in the spring of 2006 and won a first place ribbon.
More photos will be added to this web site as her projects are completed. Stay tuned, and thank you for visiting mygourdart.com
